Sanchez/Mkhitaryan On Verge Of Completion: Arsenal Agree Terms With Man Utd Star

By on January 19, 2018

The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, the big swap deal is on the verge of completion…

Alexis Sanchez is on the verge of joining Manchester United after Arsenal finally agreed personal terms with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to Goal.

The proposed swap deal has been held up while Arsenal tried to thrash out terms with the Armenian international this week and at one point it looked like a deal could collapse over his wage demands.

Mkhitaryan’s agent, Mino Raiola, made it perfectly clear the playmaker didn’t see himself as a ‘makeweight’ in the swap deal with Sanchez and insisted he wouldn’t be rushed in to making a decision over his future.

Arsene Wenger then suggested at his press conference on Thursday that he expected a deal to be done but they were still trying to find an agreement with Mkhitaryan’s camp.

It looks like there has been a breakthrough as Goal are one of several media outlet’s reporting that Arsenal have finally agreed personal terms with the 28-year-old attacker.

No precise details over wages or contract length have been disclosed but the report says Mkhitaryan will become one of the highest earners at the Emirates Stadium.

Sanchez has already agreed a lucrative contract with United worth a reported £14m-per-season so it looks like the proposed swap deal is now on the verge of completion.

The two transfers will have to be completed and registered by 12pm today for Sanchez and Mkhitaryan to be eligible to make their debuts for their new clubs this weekend so the clock is ticking.

Obviously Sanchez will be a sensational signing for United as he’s one of the best players in the world but Arsenal fans should also be excited by the impending arrival of Mkhitaryan.

The playmaker was outstanding during his time at Borussia Dortmund and although he’s struggled under Jose Mourinho this season, I wouldn’t bet against him rediscovering his best form in north London.
