Sanchez Set For Man Utd Medical Today After Breakthrough In Arsenal/Mkhitaryan Talks
Alexis Sanchez is set to undergo his medical with Manchester United after leaving Arsenal’s team hotel last night following a breakthrough in negotiations
The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Alexis Sanchez is closing-in on his move to Man Utd…
Alexis Sanchez is set to undergo his medical with Manchester United after leaving Arsenal’s team hotel last night following a breakthrough in negotiations, according to the Mirror.
The Chilean international’s switch to Old Trafford has been on hold while Arsenal thrashed out terms with Henrikh Mkhitaryan – who’s set to move to north London as part of the deal.
Sanchez is believed to have agreed personal terms with United over a lucrative contract last week but the negotiations with Mkhitaryan and Arsenal have taken longer to resolve.
The proposed swap deal wasn’t concluded in time for either player to make their debuts this weekend and Sanchez was included in the Arsenal squad ahead of their clash with Crystal Palace today.
Arsene Wenger took Sanchez as a 19th-man just in-case there was a late withdrawal and he travelled with the rest of the first team squad to the team hotel yesterday.
However, the Mirror claim that Sanchez said his goodbyes to Arsenal team mates and left the hotel after receiving a phonecall at around 11pm on Friday night to inform him there had been a breakthrough in talks.
The newspaper says the attacker then travelled to Manchester where he’s expected to undergo his medical today and finally complete his switch to United this weekend.
The Mirror claim that Mkhitaryan is also set to complete his move to Arsenal after saying goodbyes to his United team mates on Friday and was left out of the squad for today’s game at Burnley.
However, the report says Arsenal and United are ready to do two separate deals as a straight swap has proven too difficult to resolve due to different valuations and contract issues.
So it looks like this saga is finally coming to an end and Sanchez should be a United player by the end of the weekend while Mkhitaryan is also expected to be an Arsenal player over the coming days.
