Agent Due To Fly-In After Man Utd & Man City Open Talks To Sign £35m Star

By on January 25, 2018

The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Jean-Michael Seri could be heading to Manchester….

Manchester United are locked in a battle with Manchester City to sign £35m-rated Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri this month, according to the Mirror.

The Manchester giants recently clashed over the signing of Alexis Sanchez with United coming out on top but now it seems the two heavyweights are going at it again over Seri.

The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the best all-round midfielders in French football and his impressive form last season attracted interest from top clubs all over Europe.

A deal failed to materialise but Seri’s future at Nice is in serious doubt once again as he has just 18 months left on his contract and is showing no sign of penning an extension any time soon.

The Ivory Coast international’s situation has alerted clubs here in England as the Mirror claim that United and City are now battling-it-out to sign the talented midfielder before the end of the month.

The newspaper says both clubs have opened talks about signing Seri and neither club will have a problem meeting his £35m buyout clause – which is a relative bargain in today’s market.

United are in the market for midfield reinforcements as Michael Carrick is retiring in June while Marouane Fellaini is tipped to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season so Jose Mourinho is determined to land Seri.

However, Pep Guardiola is also looking to sign a new midfielder to replace Yaya Toure while a long-term replacement for Fernandinho is also on the agenda and City won’t want to miss out on Seri – especially to United.

The Mirror says the players agent is poised to fly to Manchester to discuss personal terms once Seri decides which club he wants to join so we should see movement on this proposed deal over the coming days.
