Manchester United have held formal talks with Jorginho’s agent as Jose Mourinho looks to lure the Napoli midfielder to Old Trafford this summer, according to a report in the Express.
The United boss is in the market for midfield reinforcements as Michael Carrick is due to retire in June while Marouane Fellaini’s contract is up in the summer and he’s shown no sign of penning an extension.
Ander Herrera has also failed to establish himself under Mourinho this season so it looks like at least one central midfielder will arrive over the coming months and several players have been linked with a move to United recently.
It seems Mourinho has a serious interest in signing Jorginho as the Express are citing a report from Rai Sport that claims the players agent is in Manchester holding formal talks about a summer move.
The Italian publication says Mourinho is a huge admirer of the 26-year-old’s and has now made his move after keeping a close eye on his progress in recent months.
Jorginho has developed in to one of the best defensive midfielders in Serie A since joining Napoli from Verona in 2014 and he’s also broken in to the Italian national team set-up.
His contract runs until 2020 so Napoli are under no immediate pressure to sell but United have the financial firepower at their disposal to make them an offer they couldn’t refuse.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I think Jorginho would be an excellent addition to the United squad if they could lure him to England this summer.
