Arsenal & Liverpool Linked With Swoop For £60m Senegalese Forward

Arsenal and Liverpool have been placed on red alert over the availability of Keita Balde as Monaco look set to cash-in on the £60m-rated forward

The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Keita Balde…

Arsenal and Liverpool have been placed on red alert over the availability of Keita Balde as Monaco look set to cash-in on the £60m-rated forward, according to a report in the Daily Star.

Balde made his name in Italy after coming through the Lazio youth system where he went on to provide 31 goals and 27 assists in his 137 appearances for the Serie A giants.

The Senegal international snubbed a number of clubs to join Monaco in a £30m deal last summer and has enjoyed a solid start to life in France after providing 5 goals and 3 assists in just 12 Ligue 1 starts.

However, the French outfit have forged a reputation as a selling club having cashed-in on several of their title-winning squad from last season and it seems Balde could be the next out the door.

The Daily Star are citing a report from the Gambling Times that claims Arsenal and Liverpool have been put on alert as Monaco are ready to double their money by selling Balde for around £60m.

Arsenal and Liverpool have refused to meet Monaco’s £90m valuation for Thomas Lemar so the newspaper says they are now willing to cash-in on Balde instead after splashing out £17m on the signing of Pietro Pellegri.

It remains to be seen whether either Arsenal or Liverpool will formalise their interest in Balde but both clubs are in the market for attacking reinforcements and were linked with the 22-year-old last summer.

Arsene Wenger is looking to sign at least one forward after losing Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott this month while Olivier Giroud is also being strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates.

Jurgen Klopp needs to further strengthen his attacking options after failing to replace Philippe Coutinho and Balde could be a tempting option for the Reds boss.

The Senegalese star can play anywhere across the forward positions including through the middle as a striker and he has huge potential so I think Balde would be a superb addition for Arsenal or Liverpool.

However, I’m not convinced either Wenger or Klopp will be willing to spend £60m on the player so unless Monaco lower their demands I don’t see Balde coming to the Premier League any time soon.
