Liverpool and Manchester United face a battle to land Christian Pulisic as Borussia Dortmund are desperate to tie him down to a fresh contract
The January transfer window in now closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, the latest on Christian Pulisic…
Liverpool and Manchester United face a battle to land Christian Pulisic as Borussia Dortmund are desperate to tie him down to a fresh contract, according to the Mirror.
Pulisic joined Dortmund from PA Classics in 2015 and has developed in to one of the most exciting youngsters in European football since breaking in to the first team set-up.
The 19-year-old has been an important part of Peter Stoger’s starting eleven this season having made 25 appearances in all competitions so far while he’s also scored 9 goals in his 20 caps for the United States.
His impressive form and potential has attracted interest from the Premier League as the Mirror claim Liverpool and Man Utd are among the clubs eyeing a summer swoop for the attacker while Bayern Munich are also believed to be keeping an eye on his situation.
Jurgen Klopp is a long-time fan of Pulisic as he gave the player his debut during his time at Dortmund and the Liverpool boss is seemingly keen for a reunion at Anfield as he looks to replace Philippe Coutinho.
Jose Mourinho recently signed Alexis Sanchez but the United boss is being tipped to further strengthen his attacking options this summer in order to catch Man City and Pulisic is seemingly on his radar.
The United States international has been described as America’s first real ‘super star’ in football so his commercial potential will also appeal to Liverpool and United’s American owners.
Pulisic is under contract until 2020 so Dortmund know they are starting to become vulnerable as he’ll have just two years left on his deal this summer but the Express claim they would still value the attacker at around £100m.
However, the Mirror suggests that Dortmund are determined to try and hang on to Pulisic and have already began talks over a new contract as they are desperate to secure his long-term future.
So it looks like Liverpool and United face a tough battle to land the attacker this summer but I think Pulisic would be an excellent addition for either club if they were able to lure him to the Premier League.
