Transfer Talk: Man Utd Looking To Beat Liverpool To Signing Of Bundesliga Star

By on February 5, 2018

The January transfer window in now closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Man Utd and Liverpool are linked with Christian Pulisic…

Manchester United are looking to beat Liverpool to the signature of Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic at the end of the season, according to a reports in Germany via the Mirror.

Pulisic joined Dortmund from PA Classics in 2015 and has developed in to one of the most exciting young attackers in European football since breaking in to the first team set-up.

The 19-year-old is now an important part of Peter Stoger’s starting eleven having made 26 appearances in all competitions so far this season while he’s also got 9 goals in 20 caps for the United States national team.

His impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League and the Mirror cite reports from Bild that claim Man Utd are hoping to beat rivals Liverpool to Pulisic’s signature this summer.

Jose Mourinho recently signed Alexis Sanchez but the United boss is being tipped to further strengthen his attacking options with Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to leave in June and it seems Pulisic is on his radar.

However, Jurgen Klopp is also a huge admirer of the American star as he gave Pulisic his debut during their time at Dortmund and the Liverpool boss is keen for a reunion at Anfield as he looks to replace Philippe Coutinho.

Pulisic is being touted as the first real football ‘super star’ in the United States so no doubt United and Liverpool’s American owners are also excited about his commercial potential.

Dortmund are understandably desperate to keep hold of the teenager and would demand a huge fee to cash-in this summer but I expect United and Liverpool will test their resolve over the coming months.

The report says Bayern Munich are also keeping an eye on Pulisic’s situation but the player have previously stated that he wants to play in the Premier League at some point, so he could be interested in a move to United or Liverpool if they could agree a fee with Dortmund.
