Chelsea Ready To Table £80m Bid But South American Star Favours Move To Liverpool

The January transfer window in now closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Chelsea are linked with Luis Suarez…

Chelsea are preparing a shock £80m swoop for Luis Suarez but the striker favours a return to Liverpool if he leaves Barcelona this summer, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Suarez developed in to one of the best strikers in world football during his three-and-a-half-year spell at Liverpool before earning a big-money move to Barcelona in 2014.

The Uruguayan international has continued to impress in Spain having provided a stunning 140 goals and 76 assists in 178 appearances to help win a whole host of honours including 2 La Liga titles and the Champions League.

However, TeamTalk are citing reports coming out of Spain that claim Suarez could be sacrificed by the Catalan club this summer as they look to make room for the arrival of Antoine Griezmann.

Barca are fully expected to sign the Atletico Madrid forward but vice-president Jordi Mestra admitted recently that the club’s budget is limited following the signing of Philippe Coutinho.

Therefore, the Spaniard’s will have to sell before they can make any further big-money signings and the report suggests that Suarez could be the man made available for transfer this summer.

That has alerted Chelsea as TeamTalk claim the Blues are now lining-up a surprise £80m swoop for the South American hitman as Antonio Conte looks to further strengthen his attacking options.

Alvaro Morata has struggled for consistency following his move from Real Madrid last summer and Olivier Giroud was signed as a short-term ‘plan B’ option in January so Chelsea are in need of a world class striker.

Suarez would be a sensational signing if they could pull it off, however, the report claims the 31-year-old would prefer to rejoin Liverpool if he has to leave Barcelona at the end of the season.

Furthermore, TeamTalk says Jurgen Klopp is expected to launch a move for the former Liverpool hitman if Barcelona make him available for transfer so a return to Anfield could be on the cards.

Suarez made himself a hero on Merseyside after providing 82 goals and 53 assists in just 133 games and no doubt he’d be welcomed back with open arms if a deal could be agreed this summer.
