Super-Agent Trying To Broker Deal For £80m South American To Join Man Utd

By on February 14, 2018

The January transfer window in now closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Man Utd are linked with Mauro Icardi…

Mino Raiola is trying to broker a move that would see £80m-rated Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi join Manchester United this summer, according to the Mirror.

Raiola has built a close relationship with United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward having played a key role in negotiating deals for several top players to move to Old Trafford in recent years.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are all Raiola clients who have moved to United recently while the super-agent is also listed as an intermediary for the Manchester giants.

It looks like Raiola is hoping to broke another big-money deal this summer as the Mirror are citing a report from Corriere dello Sport that claims the agent is looking to act for United to negotiate the purchase of Mauro Icardi.

The 24-year-old striker has enjoyed an excellent season so far having scored 18 goals in 24 games for Inter this campaign and he’s under contract with the Italian giants until 2021.

The newspaper report says Inter are hoping to tie him down to fresh terms worth around £6m-per-season as they are worried his £80m release clause – which can be activated from July – now looks cheap in today’s market.

However, that sort of money is nothing compared to what he could earn at United and the Mirror claim Raiola has now positioned himself as the lead broker to try and negotiate a move for Icardi to Old Trafford this summer.

Jose Mourinho is expected to further strengthen his squad this summer in order to try and catch Man City and a new striker could be needed as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to leave the club at the end of the season.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming months but Icradi would be a superb addition to the squad if United and Raiola could persuade him to come to the Premier League.
