Liverpool Hoping To Secure Quick Deal After Opening Talks To Sign £62m Brazilian Star

Liverpool are hoping to secure a deal well ahead of the summer after opening talks over the signing of £62m Roma keeper Alisson, according to Sky Sports.

The January transfer window in now closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Liverpool are looking to sign Alisson….

Liverpool are hoping to secure a deal well ahead of the summer after opening talks over the signing of £62m Roma goalkeeper Alisson, according to Sky Sports News.

Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a new number one as neither Simon Mignolet nor Loris Karius have been able to establish themselves between the sticks at Anfield over the past two years.

Mignolet has been Klopp’s regular goalkeeper since his arrival as manager but the Belgian international lost the first team shirt last month after a string of poor displays.

Karius has shown more potential but the young German is still not the finished article yet and it’s left Klopp searching to sign a reliable number one ahead of the summer window.

Alisson has emerged as a key target with widespread reports suggesting Liverpool are keen on the Roma star and it looks like the Merseysiders have now stepped up their interest.

Sky Sports sources in Italy claim Liverpool have re-opened talks with Roma via an intermediary agent to discuss a deal ahead of the summer after seeing their initial enquiry knocked back in January.

Liverpool know the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the market for goalkeepers so the news outlet claims they want to get a deal for Alisson wrapped-up swiftly to avoid being drawn in to a bidding war.

The report suggests Liverpool are hoping to get an agreement in place over the coming weeks but they’ll have to be prepared to dig deep as Roma value the 26-year-old at around £62m.

The Brazilian international joined Roma from Inter Milan in 2016 and has developed in to one of the most consistent keepers in Europe over the past two years.

So, understandably, the Serie A side don’t want to lose Alisson on the cheap and will demand a record record fee for a goalkeeper if they are to cash-in this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but Liverpool desperately need a reliable No.1 if they’re to be genuine title contenders and Alisson would be a sensational signing if they could get a deal agreed.
