Arsenal Ready To Seal £70m Double Swoop As Wenger Plans Summer Spree

Arsenal are ready to splash £70m to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir and West Brom defender Jonny Evans as Arsene Wenger plans a summer spending spree

The January transfer window in now closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Arsenal are linked with Nabil Fekir and Jonny Evans….

Arsenal are ready to splash £70m to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir and West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans as Arsene Wenger plans an early summer spending spree, according to the Daily Mail.

The boss rejuvenated his attack during the January transfer window with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan coming in for Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez.

However, we didn’t replace Theo Walcott following his move to Everton last month so Wenger is expected to dip back in to the market for another attacker this summer and it looks like he’s already lined-up his preferred target.

The Daily Mail claim Fekir is top of Wenger’s wish list and Arsenal are ready to pay £45m to get a deal wrapped-up before the player heads off with the France squad to the World Cup finals.

Fekir has been in sensational form so far this season having scored 21 goals in his 31 appearances in all competitions making him one of the most prolific attackers in Europe right now.

The 24-year-old’s value would sky-rocket if he starred for France this summer so it makes sense for Arsenal to try and secure a deal before he heads off to Russia in June but it remains to be seen whether Lyon are willing to cash-in on their star man.

Wenger is also looking to further strengthen his defensive options as Per Mertesacker is set to retire in June while Laurent Koscielny is nursing an on-going Achilles injury that’s hampered him for the past couple of seasons.

Evans has been touted as a target during the past two transfer windows and the Daily Mail claim Arsenal are confident they will finally secure a deal to sign the centre-back at the end of the season.

The newspaper says we are willing to pay £25m to sign Evans but if West Brom are relegated then we could snap him up on the cheap as a £3m buyout clause will be activated if they drop to the Championship.

The 30-year-old would bring plenty of experience to the squad if we do end up luring him to the Emirates but we’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months.
