Arsenal will look to bounce back from their Carabao Cup disappointment when we take on Manchester City for the second time in five days at the Emirates tomorrow night.

Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s provided a team news and injury update ahead of the game.

Unfortunately the boss confirmed a major injury blow with the news that Nacho Monreal is expected to miss at least the next two matches after picking up a back injury at the weekend.

Monreal was forced off midway through the first half during our League Cup final defeat to City at Wembley after injuring his back following a clash with Kyle Walker on the touchline.

Wenger has confirmed the left-back will now miss tomorrow’s game and Sunday’s trip to Brighton while Monreal is also a doubt for our Europa League clash with AC Milan and next weekend’s game with Watford.

However, thankfully we have a relatively healthy squad otherwise as Alexandre Lacazette is the only other absentee [other than Santi Cazorla] as the striker is still recovering from a knee injury.

Wenger told Arsenal.com:

on Nacho Monreal…
He is out for the two games on Thursday and Sunday, certainly out. He might be out for two more, Milan and maybe even one more. He had an inflamed back, a disc problem. The rest, everybody is fit.

on the rest of the team news…
Everybody is fit.

With Monreal unavailable it looks like Sead Kolasinac will be recalled to the starting eleven on Thursday night with the Bosnian international set to start his first league game of 2018.

Arsenal head in to tomorrow’s game knowing anything other than a win would all-but end our hopes of finishing in the top four as we’re currently 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham.
