Arsene Wenger has provided a team news update ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Brighton and we could be without 4 players for the game.

Arsenal desperately need to get back to winning ways when we take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Arsene Wenger hasn’t conducted a pre-match press conference this morning following our defeat to Manchester City last night but he has given Arsenal.com the latest team news ahead of the game.

Jack Wilshere missed the loss to City yesterday after picking up a minor groin problem and Wenger has confirmed the midfielder remains a doubt for Brighton as he won’t be able to take part in training this afternoon.

The 26-year-old will undergo further treatment on the injury and as long as he can return to training and pass a fitness test tomorrow, the boss says Wilshere will be back in contention for the trip to the south coast.

We’ve played two energy-sapping games against the best team in the country over the past five days and Wenger has suggested he may need to rotate his squad on Sunday.

The boss told Arsenal.com:

on the effects of playing two games in quick succession…
I don’t know, we will have to analyse that medically and see if I need to rest some players or not. I have until Sunday to make that decision, but of course we gave a lot [in the Carabao Cup final] and on Thursday night. I have to decide who I rest and who I keep going.

on Jack Wilshere…
If he can practice tomorrow, then he will be in contention. He will not practice today, he will have treatment and then a test tomorrow.

In other team news, Alexandre Lacazette remains on the sidelines as he’s still recovering from knee surgery while Nacho Monreal is also expected to miss out again on Sunday with a back injury that kept him out of the City game.

With Santi Cazorla still working his way back from a career-threatening ankle problem, it means we could be without four players this weekend if Wilshere fails to come through his fitness test.

We head to Brighton sitting ten points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham with just ten games remaining so we have to come home with a win to stand any chance of catching our rivals.
