The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool join the race to sign Jean-Michael Seri…
Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to sign £32m-rated Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.
Seri has been one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Ligue 1 since joining Nice from Pacos de Ferreira in 2015 and he’s also a regular with the Ivory Coast national team.
The 26-year-old’s potential has attracted interest from a whole host of top European clubs in recent transfer windows and he reportedly saw a proposed move to Barcelona fall through last summer.
Seri has also been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal and Manchester United have been showing a keen interest in the midfielder.
The Gunners are expected to revamp their options in the middle of the park this summer as Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey’s future’s are in doubt while Santi Cazorla is unlikely to play again due to injury and Seri is on their radar.
Man Utd are also expected to sign at least one central midfielder this summer as Michael Carrick is set to retire while Marouane Fellaini is out-of-contract in June and Jose Mourinho has also earmarked Seri as a potential signing.
However, it looks like the duo will now face competition as the Mirror claim that Liverpool have joined the chase after Jurgen Klopp sent his scouts to watch the midfielder in action recently.
The Reds boss is in the market for a new midfielder as Emre Can is being tipped to join Juventus on a free transfer this summer and Seri has now emerged as a potential replacement.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but the report says Seri is available for around £32m due to a release clause in his contract and I think he’d be a bargain if Arsenal, United or Liverpool were able to lure him to England this summer.
