Liverpool Team News: Klopp Confirms Triple Fitness Boost Ahead Of Man Utd Clash

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a triple injury boost ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool will be looking to boost their chances of finishing second in the Premier League when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided a team news and injury update ahead of the game.

The Reds boss confirmed a triple injury boost with the news that Andrew Robertson, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum are all fit and available to face United this weekend.

Robertson missed Tuesday night’s Champions League draw with FC Porto but the young Scottish international has been passed fit to return tomorrow so he should replace Alberto Moreno at left-back.

Henderson suffered a dead leg during the closing stages of the stalemate at Anfield in midweek but the Liverpool skipper trained well on Thursday and is in contention to start at Old Trafford.

Wijnaldum has missed Liverpool’s last three games in all competitions due to a nasty virus but the Dutch international has built-up his fitness in training this week and should be back in the squad tomorrow.

Klopp also provided an update on Nathaniel Clyne and says the defender is progressing well in his bid to regain full fitness following a serious back injury but I don’t think Liverpool will rush him back too soon.

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com:

“Robbo is clear. Clyney is still on a very good way, with no further injury since he has been back,”

“Hendo, dead leg, looked OK yesterday. Gini is also on the way back and looked good. Him and Ben [Woodburn] lost one or two kilos [due to illness], but should be OK again. It was normal in training.”

Liverpool head in to the weekend action sitting third in the Premier League table but with United just two points ahead the Merseysiders can climb second with a win at Old Trafford tomorrow afternoon.
