The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Luka Modric is linked with a move to England….

Luka Modric is ready to leave Real Madrid this summer and favours a move to Arsenal over Liverpool if he returns to the Premier League, according to a report in the Express.

Modric established himself as a top class midfielder during a four-year spell with Tottenham before earning a big-money move to the Bernabeu in the summer of 2012.

The Croatian international has continued to enhance his reputation in Spain as he’s helped Madrid win a whole host of top honours including 1 La Liga title and 3 Champions League’s.

However, Modric’s future at Madrid is in doubt as Zinedine Zidane is expected to overhaul his squad this summer following a disappointing defence of their title and he’s one of a number of players who could be sold.

The Express is citing a report from Diario Gol that claims Modric has decided he wants to return to the Premier League this summer with Arsenal and Liverpool ready to battle-it-out over his signature.

Arsenal are also set to undergo their own squad revamp and a central midfielder is on the agenda as Jack Wilshere’s contract expires in June while Granit Xhaka has been heavily criticised this season.

It appears the Gunners are keen on Modric but they’ll face competition from Liverpool as the Merseysiders are also being tipped to move for the Croatian star as Jurgen Klopp looks to spend the money they received from the sale of Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool may feel they have the edge as they can almost certainly offer Champions League football, however, the newspaper report claims that Modric is ready to snub a move to Anfield in favour of Arsenal as he wants to return to London.

That would be a controversial move considering his previous connections with Tottenham but Modric would be an excellent signing for the Gunners if they could lure him to the Emirates this summer.
