Oblak, Koulibaly & Meyer On Arsenal’s Hit List As Mislintat Works On Summer Revamp

Jan Oblak, Kalidou Koulibaly and Max Meyer are on Arsenal’s hit list as Sven Mislintat begins work on a summer overhaul in north London

The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal’s summer hit list is revealed….

Jan Oblak, Kalidou Koulibaly and Max Meyer are on Arsenal’s hit list as Sven Mislintat begins work on a summer overhaul in north London, according to the Mirror.

Arsene Wenger has seen his control at the club diminish with Mislintat coming in as the Head of Recruitment and the German chief has been tasked with identifying our summer targets.

The Mirror suggests that Arsenal are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper, new centre-back and at least one midfielder at the end of the season and they’ve drawn-up a list of players where showing a keen interest in.

With Petr Cech coming towards the end of his illustrious career, there is no doubt we need to sign a new number one and the newspaper says Jan Oblak has been identified as a prime target.

The Slovenian international has developed in to one of the best keepers in the world during his time at Atletico Madrid so it would take a huge offer to persuade the Spaniard’s to sell.

Oblak has also recently signed a new deal and it would be extremely difficult to sign the 25-year-old – especially if we can’t offer Champions League football – so the report says we’ve lined-up Jack Butland as a back-up option.

A new central defender should also be a priority as Laurent Koscielny hasn’t looked himself this season due to an on-going Achilles injury while Shkodran Mustafi has proven to be a disappointing signing.

The Mirror claim that Kalidou Koulibaly has been scouted heavily by Arsenal representatives this season and they’ve been impressed with what they’ve seen as he’s been superb at the back for Napoli.

However, the newspaper says the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are also tracking the Senegal international so we’ll have to spend big if we’re to win the race to sign Koulibaly this summer.

Further forward, we also need a new deep lying playmaker as Jack Wilshere looks increasingly likely to leave with his contract due to expire in June and we’re no closer to agreeing terms over an extension.

Schalke star Max Meyer has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months and his contract is also due to expire at the end of the season with talks over a new deal stalling.

The Mirror claim that Arsenal are one of several clubs hoping to sign him on a free transfer but the 22-year-old will have his pick of teams if he chooses to leave the Veltins Arena.

Meyer has excelled since being converted from a winger in to a deep midfielder so he’d be a superb addition but the report says we’ve lined-up Napoli star Jorginho as a potential fall-back option in-case we miss out.

It’s certainly going to be a busy summer at the Emirates but if we could land Oblak, Koulibaly and Meyer then we’d be in great shape heading in to next season.
