Man Utd Team News: Mourinho Confirms 5 Players Will Miss FA Cup Quarter Final
Jose Mourinho has confirmed he’ll be without five players for Manchester United’s quarter final clash with Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
Manchester United will be looking to book their place in the semi finals of the FA Cup when they take on Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided a team news and injury update ahead of the game.
The United boss confirmed that he’ll continue to be without five of his first team players with Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Daley Blind, Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all still on the sidelines.
Rojo has endured a frustrating injury-plagued campaign and the defender will continue to miss out this weekend while Phil Jones will also be unavailable having not featured since the defeat to Newcastle over a month ago.
Blind is also still recovering from an ankle injury while Zlatan Ibrahimovic doesn’t look like he’ll be in contention just yet despite returning to full training as he’s still working his way back to full fitness from a knee injury.
Herrera is the final player who’ll be on the sidelines against Brighton as the midfielder is still nursing a hamstring problem so Mourinho says he’ll choose from the same squad that faced Sevilla in midweek.
When asked if any of his injured players were ready to return, Mourinho told ManUtd.com:
“No, not yet. [The squad is] exactly the same [as Sevilla].”
Paul Pogba will be pushing for a recall to the starting eleven after coming off the bench during the defeat to Sevilla on Tuesday night having recovered from a knock that he picked up in training last week.
United head in to the Brighton game looking to bounce back from their Champions League exit and Mourinho knows the FA Cup is his only remaining hope of silverware this season.
