Arsenal are ready to battle it out with Manchester United over the signing of Andrija Zivkovic after stepping-up their interest in the Benfica winger, according to a report in the Mirror.

Zivkovic burst on to the scene aged just 17 when he broke in to the Partizan Belgrade first team having progressed through the youth ranks and provided 24 goals and 13 assists in 93 games to earn a move to Benfica in 2016.

The 21-year-old has continued to forge a reputation as one of the most exciting young attackers in Portuguese football as he’s racked up 47 appearances for Benfica over the past 18 months.

Zivkovic has also made an impression at international level as he helped Serbia win the Under-20’s World Cup in 2016 and has 7 caps for the senior team to his name so far.

His potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as the Mirror claim that Arsenal and Man Utd have both expressed their interest in signing Zivkovic ahead of the summer.

The newspaper says Jose Mourinho has sent his scouts to watch the youngster in action in recent months as the United boss looks to further strengthen his squad to try and compete with rivals Man City.

However, the Mirror are citing a report from Portuguese outlet O Jojo that claims Arsenal are eyeing a summer bid themselves after stepping up their interest in Zivkovic in recent weeks.

The report says the North Londoners are ready to battle United after Arsene Wenger once again sent his scouts to watch the winger in action during Benfica’s 2-0 victory over Feirense this weekend.
