Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed a major transfer boost as Adrien Rabiot is actively looking for a move away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to reports in France via TeamTalk.
Rabiot joined PSG’s youth system in 2010 and has developed in to one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in European football since breaking in to their first team set-up in 2012.
The 22-year-old has finally established himself as a first team regular this season as he’s made 41 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign to help PSG march towards another Ligue 1 title.
However, Rabiot’s long-term future at the Parc des Princes is in doubt as he has just over a year left to run on his current contract and is yet to agree terms over an extension.
The situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League as TeamTalk claim that Arsenal and Liverpool have both identified Rabiot as a key target ahead of the summer window.
Arsene Wenger is under pressure to revamp his squad following a disappointing season and a new central midfielder is needed as Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey’s future’s are in doubt while Santi Cazorla is struggling to overcome a serious ankle injury.
The Arsenal boss has been a long-term fan of Rabiot’s but the north Londoners will face competition from Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp looks to find a replacement for Emre Can – who’s tipped to join Juventus after failing to agree terms over a new deal.
It looks like the English duo have been handed a boost as TeamTalk are citing a report from Le Parisien that claims Rabiot is reluctant to sign an extension and is now actively assessing his options ahead of a possible move this summer.
PSG are keen to keep hold of the French international but unless Rabiot signs a new contract soon they’ll be forced to cash-in this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2019.
So we’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming months but I think Rabiot would be an excellent signing for Arsenal or Liverpool if either club was able to lure him to the England.
