“It Would Be A Dream” – Arsenal Target Confirms Desire To Join Liverpool

Watford star Abdoulaye Doucoure has admitted it would be a ‘dream’ to play for Liverpool amid interest from the Merseysiders and Arsenal

The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Abdoulaye Doucoure has talked-up a move to Liverpool….

Watford star Abdoulaye Doucoure has admitted it would be a ‘dream’ to play for Liverpool amid interest from the Merseysiders and Arsenal, according to a report in the Mirror.

Doucoure has developed in to a key figure for Watford since joining the club from Rennes for £8m in 2016 with the midfielder making 32 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

The 25-year-old’s impressive form has attracted interest from rival Premier League teams with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with a move for the midfielder.

Arsene Wenger is expected to be in the market for another central midfielder this summer as Jack Wilshere’s future is in serious doubt while Santi Cazorla’s career could be over due to a long-term ankle injury.

Doucoure is reportedly on Wenger’s radar, however, the Gunners face a battle to sign the French under-21 international as it seems the midfielder has his eye on a move to Liverpool.

Having playing in Watford’s defeat to the Merseysiders last weekend, Doucoure has now admitted it would be a dream for him to play for Liverpool after tasting the Anfield atmosphere for the first time.

In a further blow to Arsenal, Doucoure also expressed his desire to play in the Champions League – which is something the Londoners won’t be able to offer unless they win the Europa League this season.

Doucoure is quoted as saying by the Mirror:

“Liverpool is a club that needs no introduction. I was impatient to play there at Anfield, I wanted to feel the atmosphere. For me it would be a dream to play in a club like this,”

“If there is an offer, we will discuss to find the best solution. Everyone wants to play in the Champions League, the big competitions.”

Jurgen Klopp is expected to sign another midfielder this summer as Emre Can is still no closer to signing a new contract and it seems Doucoure could be lined-up as a potential replacement.

The Frenchman would clearly be up for the move if Liverpool could get a deal agreed with Watford but we’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks.
