Manchester United are willing to meet Lazio’s £132m asking price for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after Juventus baulked at the midfielders valuation, according to reports in Italy via TeamTalk.
Milinkovic-Savic joined Lazio from Genk in 2015 and has developed in to one of the most exciting young midfielders in European football having cemented himself as a first team regular.
The 23-year-old has provided 11 goals and 7 assists in his 37 appearances in all competitions this season to help Simone Inzaghi’s side push for a Champions League qualification spot.
He’s also broken in to the senior Serbian national team and Milinkovic-Savic’s potential has caught the attention of several top European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
TeamTalk claim that Man Utd are among the clubs who have shown a keen interest in recent months after Jose Mourinho identified Milinkovic-Savic as a potential target this summer.
Mourinho knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if United are to catch Man City and Milinkovic-Savic could add the spark that’s been missing at times this season.
It looked like Juventus were ready to challenge United for his signature but TeamTalk are citing a report from Il Messagero that claims the Serie A champions have refused to meet Lazio’s £132m (€150m) asking price.
However, the report says United have not been put off by the hefty valuation and are ready to push ahead with their pursuit of the Serbian midfielder this summer.
Milinkovic-Savic is a central midfielder who likes to get forward and get involved in attacks so it would cast further doubt over the future of Paul Pogba if United did get a deal in place to sign the Lazio star.
