Manchester United are ready to formalise their interest in Kieran Tierney over the coming weeks by tabling an offer for the £25m-rated Celtic defender, according to the Mirror.
Jose Mourinho is gearing-up for another busy summer of transfer activity as the United boss knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if they’re to compete for major trophies next season.
Left-back has always been a problem area for Mourinho ever since he arrived at Old Trafford and Ashley Young has been used as a make-shift solution for the majority of the campaign.
Luke Shaw has struggled to hold down a regular place since returning from a long-term injury and the former Southampton star is expected to be on the move this summer amid reports of a bust-up with Mourinho.
Tottenham’s Danny Rose has been linked with a move to United in recent months but the Mirror claim that Mourinho has made Tierney his prime target as he feels the Celtic star is a more versatile and better value signing.
The 20-year-old has been with Celtic his entire career having joined the clubs youth system as a child and he’s been hugely impressive since breaking in to the first team set-up in 2015.
The Scottish international has made his name at left-back but he’s able to play anywhere across the back four and the newspaper says he’s valued at £25m – which is around half of what Rose will be on the market for.
Tierney signed a new long-term contract at Celtic Park in October but the Mirror claim that United are ready to test Celtic’s resolve with a formal offer over the coming weeks and are confident of getting a deal agreed.

United obviously have the financial clout to force the Glasgow giants in to a sale and it will be difficult for Tierney to turn down a move to Old Trafford so this is one transfer I would certainly keep an eye on over the next few months.
