Liverpool Eyeing Move For La Liga Attacker But Player Wants Arsenal Move
Liverpool are lining-up Ousmane Dembele as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah but the Barcelona attacker wants to join Arsenal
The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Ousmane Dembele….
Liverpool are lining-up Ousmane Dembele as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah but the Barcelona attacker wants to join Arsenal, according to various reports today.
Dembele forged a reputation as one of the best young attackers in European football during his time at Borussia Dortmund which earned him a £94m move to Barca last summer.
However, the 20-year-old has endured a difficult first season as the Nou Camp as he missed the first half of the campaign due to a serious hamstring injury and he’s struggled to force his way in to the starting eleven since returning to fitness.
Dembele has made just 13 appearances under Ernesto Valverde this season and it’s led to speculation the French international is growing increasingly frustrated with life in Spain.
The young winger has been linked with a move to the Premier League and TeamTalk are citing a report from Don Balon that claims Liverpool have now lined-up Dembele as a potential replacement for Salah.
The Egyptian superstar has attracted interest from Real Madrid following a stunning first season at Anfield and the Spanish publication suggests that Jurgen Klopp is eyeing Dembele in-case Liverpool are unable to hang on to Salah.
However, it looks like the Merseysiders may have competition as Arsenal have also been linked with Dembele in recent months and the Daily Star are reporting that the player has made it clear he wants a move to the Emirates.
The newspaper says Dembele is agitating to leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season and wants to move to north London to link-up with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having enjoyed a close relationship with the striker during their time together at Dortmund.
Arsene Wenger is under pressure to revamp his squad this summer after a disappointing campaign and Dembele would add another dimension to Arsenal’s attack if he made a move to the Emirates.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Dembele would be an excellent signing for Arsenal, or indeed Liverpool, if either club could get a deal agreed for his signature.
