The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Djibril Sidibe…

Manchester United have opened talks over a deal to sign Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe with the player keen on making a move to Old Trafford, according to reports in France via the Sun.

Jose Mourinho is expected to further strengthen his squad this summer as he looks to try and compete with Manchester City next season and a new left-back has become a priority.

Ashley Young turns 33 in July and Luke Shaw is being tipped to leave after reportedly falling out with Mourinho this season so the United boss needs to bring in a replacement.

Antonio Valencia is also coming towards the end of his career and Matteo Darmian is expected to head back to Italy this summer so fresh blood is needed in the full-back positions.

Several names have been linked in recent months but the Sun are citing a report from Le10Sport that claims United have identified Sidibe as a prime transfer target this summer.

The French publication says United have already begun preliminary talks to try and lure the 25-year-old to Old Trafford with Mourinho informing the player of his desire to sign him.

Sidibe has starred for Monaco since joining the club from Lille in 2016 and the powerful defender helped them win the Ligue 1 title during his first season at the Stade Louis II.

However, Le10Sport claim that Sidibe has made it clear he is keen to join United this summer so the French international could be Mourinho’s first big-money signing of the summer.

Sidibe is primarily a right-back for club and country but he can also operate on the opposite flank so he’d give Mourinho plenty of options if he does end up moving to Old Trafford and I think he’d be an excellent addition to their squad.
