[Video Goals] Stoke 1-2 Tottenham: Eriksen Nets Double To Cement Top 4 Spot

By on April 7, 2018

Christian Eriksen scored both goals as Tottenham beat Stoke City 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium to cement their place in the top four of the Premier League table.

After a goalless opening forty-five minutes, Spurs had to wait until just after half time to break the deadlock as Eriksen fired home from a Dele Alli pass for 0-1 in the 53rd minute.

Stoke drew level just minutes later thanks to an error from Hugo Lloris as his poor attempted clearance cannoned off Biram Diouf and the striker stroked the ball in to the empty net for 1-1.

However, Tottenham restored their advantage in the 63rd minute as an Eriksen free-kick from wide on the left found it’s way in to the back of the net. Harry Kane tried to claim it but the goal has been awarded to Eriksen.

Stoke pushed to find a late equaliser and Sobhi went close after hitting the upright but Tottenham held on to claim a 2-1 win which moves them level on points with Liverpool and extends their lead over fifth-placed Chelsea to 11 points.
