Arsenal will look to put their Europa League exploits behind them when we take on Southampton at the Emirates on Sunday.

We put one foot in the semi-finals of the Europa League after beating CSKA Moscow 4-1 on Thursday night so we’ll look to finish the job in Russia next week.

However, we must first welcome Southampton to north London knowing that we have virtually no chance of finishing in the top four in the Premier League this season.

Tottenham’s win over Stoke today leaves us sitting 16 points adrift in sixth so our focus now must be on finishing above Chelsea – who are five points ahead in fifth.

Southampton will arrive at the Emirates in desperate need of points as they currently sit 18th in the division and three points from safety so Mark Hughes will be keen to take away a positive result tomorrow.

Team news

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been ruled out after picking up a knee injury on Thursday night while David Ospina has also been ruled out for three weeks with an ankle problem.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will return after being ineligible in the Europa League and Arsene Wenger is expected to rotate his side with Thursday’s second leg in mind.

Calum Chambers, Sead Kolasinac, Mohamed Elneny, Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi are all pushing for recalls.

Southampton have a fully-fit squad to choose from after Steven Davis recovered from a hamstring problem.

Expected line-ups

Predicted Score

Arsenal 2-0 Southampton: Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 22 home league games against Southampton and come in to the match off the back of a five game winning run in all competitions. The Saints haven’t won in the league since early February and got battered by West Ham last time out so I think we’ll ease to a routine 2-0 win.
