Danny Welbeck scored twice as Arsenal came from behind to beat Southampton 3-2 at the Emirates this afternoon.

It was a sloppy start from Arsenal and Southampton took full advantage as some woeful defending from Shkodran Mustafi allowed Shane Long to poke home for 0-1 in the 17th minute.

We levelled things up ten minutes later and it was a lovely goal with great interplay between Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck leading to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang prodding home for 1-1.

Arsenal managed to turn things around before half-time as Welbeck then got himself on the scoresheet with his effort from the edge of the area deflected past Alex McCarthy for 2-1 in the 38th minute.

Southampton were the better side early in the second half and got a deserved equaliser as Charlie Austin came off the bench to make it 2-2 in the 73rd minute following great work from Cedric.

However, we rallied once again and restored our lead when Welbeck headed home at the far post following an Iwobi cross in the 81st minute.

There were two late red cards for Jack Stephens and Mohamed Elneny for pushing but Arsenal held on to secure a win that sees us close the gap on Chelsea to just two points.
