The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Ryan Bertrand….

Manchester United are ready to battle Tottenham over the signing of Ryan Bertrand with the full-back expected to make a £25m exit from Southampton this summer, according to a report in the Metro.

Bertrand has been one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premier League since joining Southampton from Chelsea in 2015 having previously spent a successful season on loan at St Mary’s.

The 28-year-old is also expected to be part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad at this summer’s World Cup finals in Russia but his future on the south coast is in serious doubt.

Southampton are in danger of being relegated this season and the Metro are citing a report from the Sun that claims Bertrand will hand in a transfer request this summer even if they manage to retain their top flight status.

The situation has alerted a number of fellow Premier League clubs with the newspaper saying that Man Utd have joined Tottenham in the race to sign the left-back while Newcastle and Everton are also showing a keen interest.

Jose Mourinho is expected to further strengthen his squad at the end of the season as he looks to compete with Man City next year and a long-term replacement for Ashley Young is needed as he’ll turn 33 in July.

Luke Shaw is also being tipped to leave Old Trafford after falling out with Mourinho and the Sun suggests that United have lined-up Bertrand as an alternative target to Danny Rose.

However, it seems Spurs are also showing a keen interest in signing Bertrand as Mauricio Pochettino makes plans for life after Rose with the England international expected to leave after struggling to regain his first team place following injury.
