Jose Mourinho is ‘desperate’ to sign Isco this summer as Manchester United line-up a sensational swoop for the Real Madrid midfielder, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Mourinho is gearing up for another busy summer in the transfer market as United try to build a squad capable of competing with Manchester City for the Premier League title next season after finishing well behind their rivals this year.

The Red Devils have lacked a spark at times this campaign and it seems Mourinho has lined-up an ambitious target to solve that particular problem with TeamTalk citing a report from Don Balon that claims the Portuguese coach has identified Isco as the man he wants.

Isco only signed a new long-term contract at the Bernabeu last September which includes a mammoth release clause worth €700million (£614m) so it’s obviously going to be extremely difficult to prise him away from Madrid.

However, the Spanish publication claims Mourinho is desperate to sign the attacking midfielder and is even willing to offer David De Gea in exchange if his number one makes it clear he wants to return to Spain this summer.

De Gea has been constantly linked with a move to Madrid in recent years with fresh speculation surfacing in recent weeks and it seems Mourinho is ready to sacrifice his keeper to land Isco – if De Gea wants to leave.

Obviously it would be devastating for United to lose the Spanish stopper but it would soften the blow if they were to get Isco in exchange as he’s one of the best attackers in European football.

The 25-year-old has recently ousted Gareth Bale from Zinedine Zidane’s starting eleven and he’s certain to be named in the Spanish squad for this summers World Cup finals in Russia.

He predominantly plays as a central attacking midfielder so he could play alongside Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba if he makes a move to Old Trafford – although Isco is also comfortable out on the wing so he’d give Mourinho plenty of options.
