The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with two big-money signings…
Liverpool are expected to wrap-up big money deals to sign Napoli midfielder Jorginho and Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar ahead of Arsenal this summer, according to the Mirror via the Express.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have been hugely impressive in recent months and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League with a stunning 5-1 aggregate victory over Premier League champions Man City last week.
However, Klopp knows he needs to further strengthen his squad this summer if the Reds are to compete on all fronts next season and Liverpool have been tipped to complete at least two top class signings.
A new central midfielder to replace Emre Can – who’s out of contract in June – is on the agenda and the Mirror, via the Express, claim that Liverpool will wrap-up a deal to sign Napoli star Jorginho.
The Italian international has been strongly linked with a number of clubs in recent months with the Mirror reporting recently that Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal were all keen on the £50m-rated midfielder.
However, it seems Liverpool are being tipped to win the race to sign the 26-year-old and he could form a devastating partnership alongside Naby Keita – who’s due to arrive from RB Leipzig in July.
Klopp is also expected to be in the market for another attacking midfielder this summer after failing to land a replacement for Philippe Coutinho following his move to Barcelona in January.
Liverpool and Arsenal have long been linked with Lemar with the duo reportedly making efforts to sign the £92m-rated French international last summer and during the winter window.
Lemar recent admitted [via the Independent] his disappointment at seeing proposed moves to Arsenal and Liverpool fall through but opened the door to a switch at the end of the season.
However, the Mirror, via the Express, suggests that Liverpool are Lemar’s most likely destination ahead of Arsenal and tip the Merseysiders to finally get a deal over the line this summer.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I think Lemar and Jorginho would be superb signings for Liverpool if they were able to get deals for the £142m-rated duo over the line.
