Liverpool & Tottenham Ready To Meet £39m Buyout Clause To Sign La Liga Star

Liverpool and Tottenham are both ready to meet Clement Lenglet’s £39m buyout clause as the race for the Sevilla defender hots-up ahead of the summer

The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham and Liverpool are linked with Clement Lenglet…

Liverpool and Tottenham are both ready to meet Clement Lenglet’s £39m buyout clause as the race for the Sevilla defender hots-up ahead of the summer, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Lenglet made his name in France at Nancy and has developed in to one of the most highly-rated young centre-backs in European football since joining Sevilla last summer.

The 22-year-old has been a key part of their starting eleven this season and was a rock at the back during the Spaniard’s run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League – where they eventually lost out to Bayern Munich.

Lenglet’s impressive form has caught the eye of clubs here in the Premier League as TeamTalk are citing a report from Diario AS that claims Tottenham have joined Liverpool in the race to sign the defender this summer.

The report says Spurs will look to rival any approach made by Liverpool to sign the French U21 international with both clubs prepared to meet Lenglet’s £39m release clause.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to be in the market for another centre-back this summer as he looks to find a long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk and it seems Lenglet has emerged as a prime target.

Mauricio Pochettino is also on the look out for another central defender as Toby Alderweireld is expected to leave after failing to agree terms over a new contract and Spurs have also lined-up Lenglet as a possible replacement.

However, the English duo could yet face stiff competition for his signature as Diario AS, via TeamTalk, claim that Barcelona are also on his case and are ready to open talks with Sevilla over a potential deal.

Samuel Umtiti has been strongly linked with a move away from the Nou Camp in recent weeks and it seems Lenglet has been identified by the Catalans as a potential replacement for the Frenchman.
