Chelsea are ready to steal a march on Arsenal and Manchester United by launching a £65m bid to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to the Sun.
Koulibaly has been one of the best centre-backs in Italian football since joining Napoli from Genk in 2014 and he scored a vital late winner over Juventus last weekend to move the Naples club to within just one point of their title rivals.
The Senegalese international has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent transfer windows and it seems this summer is going to be no exception with Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd all touted as potential suitors.
The Gunners desperately need to shore up their defence as they’ve continued to leak far too many goals this season while United are being tipped to strengthen their back-line as Jose Mourinho looks to keep pace with City.
However, it looks like the Blues are ready to step-up their pursuit as the Sun are citing a report from Il Mattino that claims Chelsea are ready to steal a march on Arsenal and United by launching a £65m bid to sign Koulibaly.
David Luiz is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer while Gary Cahill’s future is in doubt after he lost his place recently so Koulibaly is seemingly being lined-up as a potential replacement.
Antonio Conte is being tipped to leave west London following a disappointing title defence that’s destined to see them finish fifth in the table so even an FA Cup win may not keep the Italian in a job.
The Chelsea hierarchy conduct transfer negotiations on behalf of the manager but whoever comes in to replace Conte would no doubt be delighted if Koulibaly was among the players he inherited this summer.

There is still plenty of time for the likes of Arsenal or United to step-up their interest and compete with Chelsea but I think Koulibaly would be an excellent signing if any of the English clubs were able to get a deal agreed.
