The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Jerome Boateng…

Jerome Boateng has confirmed he’s considering his future at Bayern Munich amid interest from Manchester United, according to the Mirror.

Boateng has developed in to one of the best centre-backs in European football since joining Bayern from Manchester City in 2011 as he’s formed an excellent partnership alongside Mats Hummels.

The German international has made over 250 appearances to help Bayern win a whole host of top honours including 7 Bundesliga titles, 4 domestic cups and the Champions League.

He also won the World Cup with Germany in 2014 and his impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Man Utd have expressed their interest in bringing him to England.

The Red Devils have now been handed a boost as Boateng – who turns 30 later this year – has admitted he’s at a stage in his career when he’s considering a fresh challenge after hinting he’s achieved all he can in Munich.

He’s quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“I’ve experienced everything at FC Bayern, and I am slowly coming to a point where I must answer myself certain questions.

“What are the goals I have not reached yet? Do I, time and time again, want to prove myself at the same club with the same pre-conditions?’

“Those are not necessarily classic questions regarding the career, but vital questions and, in the end, questions that drive people.”

These comments are sure to alert Man Utd as Jose Mourinho is expected to sign a new centre-back this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of competing with the likes of Man City next season.

Chris Smalling has performed well in recent months but Eric Bailly has struggled to hold down a regular place since returning to full fitness while Victor Lindelof has taken his time adjusting to life in England.

Boateng would be a superb addition to the United squad if Mourinho could lure him to Old Trafford but he still has three years left on his contract and it remains to be seen whether Bayern are ready to cash-in.
