Here is our match preview ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Roma including team news, expected line-ups and predicted score

Liverpool will be looking to finish the job and secure their place in the Champions League final when they take on AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico this evening.

The Reds were virtually guaranteed of reaching the final after racing in to a 5-0 first leg lead at Anfield last week but two late Roma goals pulled it back to 5-2 and kept things interesting.

Ordinarily, Liverpool should have very little to fear heading in to the second leg holding such a commanding lead but Roma proved in the quarter finals they are capable of pulling off a miracle.

The Italians lost their quarter final first leg 4-1 to Barcelona but beat the La Liga champions 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to reach the semi-finals on away goals so manager Eusebio Di Francesco will be hoping lightning can strike twice.

However, it will still require a monumental effort from Roma to pull it off again, especially against a Liverpool side that will be extremely difficult to defend against on the break, so Jurgen Klopp’s men are red-hot favourites to progress.

Team news

Adam Lallana has travelled to Italy but only to train with the squad as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury that’s kept him out for a month.

Joe Gomez has been ruled out after suffering an ankle injury during the draw with Stoke at the weekend but Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alberto Moreno are all expected to be passed fit.

Sadio Mane will also return from a minor muscle injury but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joel Matip and Emre Can are long-term absentees.

Roma will be without Diego Perotti and Kevin Strootman due to injury as they join Gregoire Defrel and Rick Karsdorp on the sidelines.

Expected line-ups

Predicted Score

Roma 2-2 Liverpool: Obviously Roma can take heart from their exploits against Barcelona in the quarter final but I really don’t see them pulling off another miracle this evening. Perhaps if they grab an early goal the nerves will kick-in among the Liverpool players but their front three is in sensational form and I don’t see Roma keeping a clean sheet. I’m going for a score draw with Liverpool progressing to the final where they’ll meet Real Madrid.
