Liverpool To Steal March On Tottenham & Chelsea By Opening Talks To Sign £88m Star

Liverpool are ready to steal a march on Tottenham and Chelsea by opening talks with Sporting Lisbon to sign £88m-rated midfielder Bruno Fernandes

The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are ready to make their move for Bruno Fernandes…

Liverpool are ready to steal a march on Tottenham and Chelsea by opening talks with Sporting Lisbon to sign £88m-rated midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reports in Portugal via TeamTalk.

Fernandes has been enjoying an excellent debut season in Portugal after providing 16 goals and 20 assists in all competitions since joining Sporting from Sampdoria 12 months ago.

The attacking midfielder has also broken in to the Portugal national team and is hoping to be included in their squad for the World Cup finals in Russia this summer.

The 23-year-old’s impressive form has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as TeamTalk claim that Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham have all expressed their interest in signing him.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be in the market for a new midfielder amid speculation over the future of Mousa Dembele while Chelsea have also been tipped to further strengthen their options in the middle of the park with Danny Drinkwater set to leave.

However, it looks like Liverpool are ready to steal a march on their rivals as TeamTalk are citing a report from A Bola that claims the Reds are set to step-up their interest in signing Fernandes.

The Portuguese publication says Jurgen Klopp has instructed Liverpool bosses to open talks with Sporting after identifying Fernandes as the perfect partner for Naby Keita in his new-look midfield next season.

Emre Can is expected to leave Anfield after failing to agree terms over a new deal while Klopp also needs to strengthen his midfield options following the exit of Philippe Coutinho in January and it looks like Fernandes has been lined-up as a potential replacement.

The Portuguese midfielders release clause is set at £88m [€100m] but the report says Liverpool are ready to smash their transfer record to land the highly-rated star ahead of Chelsea and Spurs.
