£60m Arsenal, Chelsea Target Agrees To Join Liverpool After Holding Talks With Klopp
Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir has a verbal agreement to join Liverpool after holding talks with Jurgen Klopp earlier this year
The summer transfer window is fast approaching and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Nabil Fekir is linked with Liverpool…
Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir has a verbal agreement to join Liverpool after holding talks with Jurgen Klopp earlier this year, according to a report by TeamTalk.
Fekir joined Lyon from Saint-Priest in 2013 and has developed in to one of the most prolific playmakers in Europe in recent years with the youngster expected to be going to the World Cup with France this summer.
The 24-year-old has provided 22 goals and 7 assists in his 38 appearances in all competitions this season to help Lyon push for second place in the Ligue 1 table and qualification to the Champions League.
That impressive form has caught the attention of several clubs in the Premier League with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool among the clubs to have reportedly shown an interest in recent months [source: Mirror].
However, Liverpool have emerged as the front-runners for his signature with widespread reports coming out of France in recent days suggesting a deal taking Fekir to Anfield is close to completion.
TeamTalk are now citing L’Equipe journalist Nabil Djellit as saying that Fekir has a verbal agreement to join Liverpool after holding face-to-face talks with Klopp earlier this year.
Djellit is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:
“The two men met at the beginning of the year. There’s a verbal agreement between them.
“Everything else, agreement between clubs, possible competition from others.
“Confirmed but not signed, a bit like Tuchel (to PSG)!”
Klopp is in the market for another attacking midfielder as he failed to sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho following his big-money move to Barcelona during the January window.
It appears Fekir is a prime target for the Merseysiders and I think the French international would be a superb signing if Liverpool could get a deal over the line this summer.

The Mirror reported earlier this week that Lyon value Fekir at around £60m and Liverpool should have plenty of funds left over from the Coutinho transfer so a deal could be on the cards.
