La Liga Star Calls Mourinho To Push Through £61m Move To Man Utd

The summer transfer window is fast approaching and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Raphael Varane is linked with Man Utd…

Real Madrid star Raphael Varane has personally called Jose Mourinho to try and push through a proposed £61m move to Manchester United this summer, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.

Mourinho is expected to strengthen his defensive options this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging Manchester City next year and a new centre-back is understood to be a priority.

Eric Bailly appears to have fallen out of favour during the second half of the season while Victor Lindelof has failed to establish himself since joining United from Benfica last summer.

Samuel Umtiti has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford but TeamTalk claim Mourinho is set to move on to other targets as the Frenchman is expected to sign a new deal with Barcelona.

Varane has long been linked with a move to United and the speculation has resurfaced once again as TeamTalk are citing a report from Don Balon that claims the centre-back has personally called Mourinho to try and push through a move.

The 25-year-old has featured heavily for Madrid this season having made 41 appearances in all competitions but his future at the Bernabeu has been called in to question amid rumours Florentino Perez is eyeing City defender John Stones.

The Spanish publication says Varane is ‘seduced’ by the idea of playing in the Premier League and has now made contact with former boss Mourinho to discuss a potential reunion at Old Trafford.

Mourinho knows the player well as he was in charge at Madrid when they bought Varane from Lyon in 2011 and the report suggests United could snap him up for around £61m this summer.

The French international has developed in to one of the best centre-backs in Europe in recent years so I think he’d be an excellent signing for United if they manage to pull it off over the coming months.
