Liverpool secured Champions League football with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Brighton at Anfield that saw Mohamed Salah break the Premier League goal-scoring record for a single season.

The Reds were denied two strong penalty claims during the opening stages but eventually broke the deadlock as Salah scored a record 32nd Premier League goal with a clinical left-footed finish in the 26th minute.

Liverpool made it 2-0 shortly before half-time when Dejan Lovren rose high to head home from close range to put the Merseysiders in control in the 40th minute.

Jurgen Klopp’s side continued to dominate and they got a third goal early in the second half as Dominic Solanke fired home off the bar following a move involving Roberto Firmino and Salah.

Liverpool added a late fourth as left-back Andrew Robertson capped a superb campaign with a goal to make it 4-0 in the 85th minute and secure another impressive win for the Merseysiders.

The victory means Liverpool have secured qualification to the Champions League next season but they have to settle for fourth place after Tottenham beat Leicester 5-4 in a thriller at Wembley.
