The summer transfer window is just around the corner and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Nabil Fekir…
Liverpool are hoping to beat Arsenal and Chelsea to the signing of £60m-rated Lyon star Nabil Fekir as Jurgen Klopp looks to sign at least three new players this summer, according to a report by TeamTalk.
Fekir has been one of the most prolific attacking midfielders in Europe since joining Lyon from Saint-Priest in 2013 and he’s enjoyed another superb campaign having provided 22 goals and 7 assists this season.
The 24-year-old’s impressive form has caught the attention of clubs in the Premier League with TeamTalk claiming that Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been showing a keen interest in signing the attacker.
Arsenal and Chelsea are both expected to strengthen their squads this summer after missing out on the top four but the uncertainty surrounding their managerial positions may have prevented them from stepping-up their interest in Fekir.
That’s left Liverpool in pole position to land the talented French international – although Fekir’s father was forced to deny speculation last week that his son had already agreed a move to Anfield following a reported meeting with Klopp.
However, that’s not to say Liverpool’s interest isn’t genuine as TeamTalk are citing a report from the Liverpool Echo that claims the Reds are in fact hoping to lure Fekir to the club this summer.
The newspaper says that while formal transfer talks won’t be opened before the Champions League final later this month, Liverpool are hot on the trail of the £60m-rated playmaker as Klopp looks to finally sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
And Fekir won’t be the only possible new arrival at Anfield as the report says Liverpool are expected to sign at least two more players with Klopp also looking to add a defender and goalkeeper to his ranks over the coming months.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop as there is still time for the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to step-up their attempts to sign Fekir but it looks like Liverpool have the most serious interest as they gear-up for a busy summer.
