Agent Confirms Talks As Arsenal Look To Secure £35m Signing Ahead Of Man Utd

Arsenal are ready to push through a £35m deal to sign Freiburg centre-back and Manchester United target Caglar Soyuncu this summer

The summer transfer window is about to open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Caglar Soyuncu…

Arsenal are ready to push through a £35m deal to sign Freiburg centre-back and Manchester United target Caglar Soyuncu this summer, according to the Telegraph.

Soyuncu has been a huge hit in the Bundesliga since joining Freiburg from Altindoru in 2016 with the youngster establishing himself as a permanent fixture in Christian Streich’s starting eleven.

The 21-year-old was virtually ever-present last season and he’s also racked up 13 caps for the senior Turkish national team having previously represented his country and every youth level.

Soyuncu’s potential has caught the attention of Premier League clubs as Football London claims that Arsenal and Manchester United have expressed their interest in signing the centre-back this summer.

The players agent has now admitted talks are underway with interested clubs and confirmed Soyuncu wants to come to the Premier League, but he stopped short of naming any names.

Mustafa Dogru is quoted as telling Football London:

“The main objective of the player is to play in the Premier League, that I can tell you at the moment,”

“We are negotiating with some clubs, but I can’t give the name of the clubs – I’m sorry.

“Next week we will have some meetings and I think in 10 or 15 days his situation will be clear.

“They (Freiburg) are open to negotiations.”

Jose Mourinho is expected to sign another defender amid doubts over the future of Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly and it seems United have Soyuncu on their short-list of potential targets.

However, it’s Arsenal who are reportedly leading the chase as the Telegraph claim the Gunners are ready to push through a £35m deal with head of recruitment Sven Mislintat leading the negotiations.

The newspaper says several other Premier League clubs have been in touch with Freiburg about Soyuncu’s situation but were told the defender is set for a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are in the market for another centre-back as Per Mertesacker has retired while Laurent Koscielny has been ruled out for at least six months following Achilles surgery and it looks like Soyuncu could be lined-up as a replacement.
