Jorginho’s agent has confirmed Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs to have expressed their interest in signing the £60m Napoli midfielder
The summer transfer window is about to open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Jorginho…
Jorginho’s agent has confirmed Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs to have expressed their interest in signing the £60m Napoli midfielder this summer, according to the Metro.
The Italian international has become one of the most sought after midfielders in European football after starring for Napoli since joining the club from Verona in the summer of 2014.
The 26-year-old has been a key player this season to help Mauricio Sarri’s side push Juventus all the way in the Serie A title race and his performances have attracted interest from England.
Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, has confirmed that Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are battling it out with champions Manchester City to sign the talented midfielder this summer.
Santos has revealed that the Premier League giants have all been in contact to express their interest and put forward proposals for the Brazilian-born star and he doesn’t think it will be too difficult to find an agreement if Napoli decide to cash-in.
Boss Maurizio Sarri’s future at the Stadio San Paolo is in doubt as he’s been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea but Santos doesn’t know if his situation will be linked to Jorginho’s.
The agent is quoted as saying by the Metro:
‘I’m in Brazil, nobody called me from Naples, but English teams have called me, Liverpool, Manchester City, but also Arsenal and Chelsea,’
‘It depends on Napoli and sports director Giuntoli. Of course it is not difficult to find agreements with teams like these.
‘I don’t know if Maurizio Sarri’s possible exit would speed up Jorginho’s transfer, for Napoli it will be positive to capitalise on the offers then we will talk.
‘I don’t know if Jorginho’s future depends on Sarri’s future.’
Arsenal are expected to be in the market for a new midfielder as Jack Wilshere is yet to sign a new contract while Aaron Ramsey’s long-term future is in doubt and Jorginho is seemingly on their radar.
Liverpool are also on the look out for another central midfielder as Emre Can is being tipped to walk away on a free transfer and Jurgen Klopp could view Jorginho as the ideal replacement.
However, Chelsea could will obviously provide stiff competition for his signature while City shouldn’t be discounted as they need to find a replacement for Yaya Toure.
It’s going to be fascinating to see where Jorginho ends up if he does leave Napoli but the Metro claim he’s valued at around £60m so the Premier League clubs will need to dig deep if they want to lure him to England.
