Tottenham are ready to hijack Arsenal and Liverpool’s attempts to sign Christian Pulisic by launching a £40m bid for the Borussia Dortmund attacker, according to a report in the Express.
Pulisic has emerged as one of the most highly-rated young attackers in Europe since joining Dortmund from PA Classics in 2015 and has established himself as a key player at the Westfalonstadion.
The 19-year-old made 42 appearances in all competitions last season – scoring 5 goals and providing 7 assists – while he’s also got 20 caps to his name for the United States national team.
The teenagers potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League with TeamTalk reporting recently that Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs to have registered their interest.
Arsenal are gearing-up for a busy summer in north London and it seems the clubs hierarchy are eyeing a big-money move for Pulisic as they look to add some much-needed width to their squad.
Liverpool have long been linked with the American winger as Jurgen Klopp knows him well from their time together at Dortmund and the Reds are in the market for an attacker to replace Philippe Coutinho following his January move.
However, it looks like Arsenal and Liverpool will face fresh competition as the Express are citing a report from Calcio Insider that claims Tottenham are now ready to hijack their attempts to sign Pulisic this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino has urged Daniel Levy to be more adventurous in the transfer market if they’re to become genuine title contenders and it seems the Spurs chairman is ready to respond by launching a swoop for Pulisic.
The youngster has two years left on his contract and has shown no sign of penning an extension so the report says Dortmund will cash-in for £40m this summer and Tottenham are ready to meet that asking price.
Pulisic is predominantly a right-winger but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions so he’d be a very useful asset for Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs if any of the clubs could lure him to England.
