Man Utd Eyeing Bid For Portuguese Star As Mourinho Works On £130m Triple Swoop

Manchester United are eyeing a £30m bid for Joao Cancelo as Jose Mourinho plots a triple summer swoop also involving Fred and Alex Sandro, according to the Mirror.

Mourinho needs to strengthen his squad if United are to compete with the likes of Manchester City for top honours next season and a new right-back is a priority.

Matteo Darmian is expected to complete a move back to Italy after failing to hold down a regular first team place and with Antonio Valencia turning 33 in August, a long term replacement is needed.

It looks like Mourinho has his target in mind as the Mirror claim that United are eyeing a £30m bid to sign Valencia defender Joao Cancelo if he doesn’t complete a permanent switch to Inter Milan.

Cancelo spent last season on loan at the San Siro and Inter have an option to make the move permanent this summer but the Italian giants are yet to activate that clause.

The delay in completing the deal has alerted United and it seems Mourinho is hoping to lure the Portuguese international to Old Trafford as he looks to bring in competition for Valencia.

United are also in the market for a left-back as Luke Shaw and Daley Blind are being tipped to leave and the Mirror claims the Red Devils are closing-in on a £50m deal to sign Alex Sandro.

The Brazilian international has excelled during his time at Juventus and he’d be a top-class long term replacement for Ashley Young – who turns 33 in July.

Mourinho is also needing to strengthen his midfield options as Michael Carrick has retired while Marouane Fellaini is set to leave when his contract expires next month.

And the Mirror claim United are ready to wrap-up a £50m deal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred before the Brazilian international flies out to the World Cup finals in Russia.

Fred will be in the north-west of England when Brazil play a friendly against Croatia at Anfield on June 3rd and the newspaper says United are keen to get a deal completed while the midfielder is in the UK.

If the Manchester giants are able to conclude all three deals, Mourinho would have splashed around £130m but he’d have filled three positions he desperately needs to strengthen this summer.
