The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Emil Forsberg…

Arsenal are in talks with RB Leipzig over a potential deal to sign £47m-rated attacker Emil Forsberg this summer as Unai Emery looks to reshape his squad, according to a report in the Sun.

Emery knows he needs to strengthen his ranks if we’re to challenge next season and while defence and midfield are understood to be priority areas, it seems the Spaniard is also looking to add to his attacking options.

Forsberg has long been linked with a move to the Emirates and we’ve renewed our interest as the Sun are citing reports from Expressen that claim Arsenal are in talks with RB Leipzig about signing the winger this summer.

The Swedish newspaper says negotiations are also underway with the players representatives but we’ll face stiff competition for Forsberg’s signature from the likes of Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed an excellent two-and-a-half seasons at Leipzig having joined the club from Malmo in January 2015 and he’ll also represent Sweden at this summers World Cup finals.

Given his quality, the report says Leipzig are demanding a whopping £47m for Forsberg’s signature and that valuation could prove to be a stumbling block for Arsenal as Emery reportedly has a transfer budget of between £50m-£70m.

With the boss also reportedly eyeing swoops for the likes of Bernd Leno, Ousmane Dembele, Jonny Evans and Jean-Michael Seri we may struggle to justify spending a huge portion of our budget on Forsberg.

However, if we could get a deal agreed then I think he’d be an excellent addition to the squad as he can play on either wing and we’ve had a distinct lack of width in the squad over the past year.
