[Video Goals] Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool: Bale Scores Stunner As Reds Crash

By on May 26, 2018

Gareth Bale scored a stunner but it was a night to forget for Loris Karius as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in the Champions League final.

Liverpool more than held their own during the first half as the two sides went in goalless at half time but Madrid broke the deadlock shortly after the break and it was one to forget for Loris Karius.

The German goalkeeper collected a routine long ball but his attempted throw out was intercepted by the lurking boot of Karim Benzema and the ball deflected in to the back of the net for 1-0.

Liverpool responded superbly as they levelled things up just 4 minutes later with Sadio Mane on hand to poke home from close range following a 55th minute corner.

Madrid took control of the game once again and restored their lead in the 64th minute in spectacular fashion as Gareth Bale found the back of the net with a stunning overhead kick just 2 minutes after coming off the bench.

Any hope of a late Liverpool comeback were dashed when Karius dropped another horrific error as he allowed a long-range Bale effort to slip through his fingers and in to the net for 3-1.

Madrid eased to a 3-1 victory to win the Champions League for the third consecutive season and the fourth time in five years.
