Man Utd are set to complete the signing of Diogo Dalot after activating the £17.4m release clause in his contract and personal terms have already been agreed

The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are set to sign Diogo Dalot…

Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Diogo Dalot after activating the £17.4m release clause in his Porto contract and personal terms have already been agreed, according to the Telegraph.

Jose Mourinho is gearing-up for a busy summer in the transfer market as he looks to build a squad capable of competing with the likes of Manchester City for top honours next season.

Strengthening his defence is a priority and a new right-back to act as a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia is desperately needed as the Ecuadorian international turns 33 in August.

Matteo Darmian is set for a move back to Italy and it looks like United have found the man they want to replace him as the Telegraph claim they are on the verge of signing Porto defender Dalot.

The newspaper says United have triggered the £17.4m release clause in his contract and have already agreed personal terms with the 19-year-old so the transfer is expected to be confirmed over the coming days.

This deal has come from nowhere but the Telegraph says United have moved fast to get an agreement wrapped-up as they faced competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Napoli.

Dalot has been with Porto his entire career having progressed through their youth system and he’s represented Portugal at every youth level from Under15 through to Under21 so he has a bright future ahead of him.

The teenager broke into the Porto first team this season and only made a handful of appearances but he’s expected to push Valencia for a starting spot next season before being his eventual successor.

Dalot is predominantly a right-back but he’s also capable of playing on the left or even in midfield if needed so his versatility will be a huge asset to Mourinho once this proposed deal is completed.
