Agent Confirms Liverpool’s Interest In Signing £60m International Star

Nabil Fekir’s agent has confirmed Liverpool want to sign the £60m Lyon playmaker but has denied reports he was in England to finalise a deal this weekend

The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Liverpool’s move for Nabil Fekir…

Nabil Fekir’s agent has confirmed Liverpool want to sign the £60m-rated Lyon playmaker but has denied reports he was in England to finalise a deal this weekend, according to the Mirror.

Jurgen Klopp is in the market for another attacking midfielder as he failed to replace Philippe Coutinho following his move to Barcelona in January and Fekir has emerged as Liverpool’s prime target.

The playmaker has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent months after impressing for Lyon with 23 goals and 8 assists in all competitions last season to earn a place in the French World Cup squad.

It looked like Liverpool were closing-in on a deal as reports over the weekend, via the Mirror, claim that Fekir’s agent Jean-Pierre Bernes had flown to Merseyside to finalise a £60m move.

Bernes has now responded to those reports and although the agent has confirmed Liverpool’s interest in signing Fekir, he denied he was in Liverpool this weekend and suggested other clubs are still in the running for his clients signature.

Bernes is quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“I did not leave Marseille (this weekend), I am with my family.

“But I will be clear, we will go with Nabil to Liverpool or elsewhere when there is an agreement with Lyon – and if Jean-Michel Aulas gives the green light.

“Liverpool’s interest exists, but for the moment nothing is done and other clubs could come in. The [transfer] window will be long.”

So it seems Liverpool’s interest in signing Fekir this summer is genuine but they don’t appear to be close to wrapping-up a big-money deal for the talented 24-year-old attacker.

Fekir is a central attacking midfielder so if he does eventually complete a move to Liverpool then he could form a new-look midfield alongside Fabinho and Naby Keita at Anfield next season.

We’ll have to see how things progress but Liverpool will need to act fast if they want to sign Fekir before the World Cup as France play their final friendly on Saturday before flying out to Russia.
