The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Leon Bailey…

Liverpool are in negotiations to sign Chelsea target Leon Bailey after identifying the Bayer Leverkusen attacker as an alternative to Ousmane Dembele, according to reports in Germany via TeamTalk.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is in the market to sign another versatile attacker this summer as he looks to add depth and competition for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ahead of next season.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with an audacious swoop to sign Dembele in recent weeks but Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is determined to keep hold of the talented Frenchman.

Therefore, Klopp is eyeing other targets and TeamTalk are citing a report from CaldioInsider that claims he’s now turned his attention to signing Bailey with Liverpool already in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen.

The German publication says Klopp is keen to get a deal agreed quickly for the £70m-rated attacker as he wants his transfer business done as early as possible to ensure his new recruits get a full pre-season with their new team mates.

Bailey made his name in Belgium during an impressive two-year spell at Genk before joining Leverkusen in January 2017 and he’s continued to develop in to one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe.

The 20-year-old provided 12 goals and 6 assists in 34 appearances last season and TeamTalk claim Chelsea have also been showing a keen interest in luring him to the Premier League.

The Blues are expected to strengthen their squad this summer after missing out on the top four last season and Bailey could be viewed as a replacement for Willian amid speculation the Brazilian international could leave Stamford Bridge.
