[PLAYER RATINGS] Arsenal 3-0 Ipswich

By on January 26, 2011

Szczesny– Quiet game for him. Did the basics perfectly and keeps getting more and more confidence. Produced an expected save against Scotland which will probably be his only highlight of the game. Misjudging a cross (which also led to him knocking out Sagna) would be his only mistake. 6

Sagna– Got injured (head concussion) while defending a set- piece. Hope he recovers soon.

DJ– Very good on the ball. Dealt with everything thrown at him. 7

VOdds

Kosher– Sound technically and wiped out any danger at the back. Got booked in the first half. Showed great determination to score our second from a corner by beating Fulop (Ipswich keeper) to the ball. 8

Clichy– Probably our best defender today. Didn’t let anything go by except on one occasion where he recovered well. 7

Denilson– Started the game poorly committing a horrible foul which he got away with but grew into the game and snuffed out the danger when required to. 6

Cesc– Not a good first half. A very bright second half though with one assist and a goal to seal off the victory. 7

Arshavin– Worked a lot harder then we usually see him do. Still made some gambles with passes and gave possession away sometimes but two assists… can’t say he had a bad game can you? 7

Wilshere– Worked his socks off today but lacked that lethalness which I am sure he will get soon. Linked play well in the midfield. 6.5

RVP– Hit the bar and was unlucky not to get a goal. Passed well out there and showed creativity but just was not his day. 6

Bendther– A great cross to RVP which led to him hitting the bar post. Didn’t contribute significantly throughout the game but out of nowhere scores a goal which belongs to the top draw. Any striker would be proud to score a goal like that, fabulous individual effort. 7.5

Substitutes

Eboue– on for Sagna. A little risky with the dribbling, otherwise a sound game overall.6

Nasri– on for Arshavin. N/A

Walcott-On for RVP. N/A

Didn’t Wilshere assist the Bendtner goal? If so does that means Fab’s score is decreases since he didn’t actually provide an assist and conversely Wilshere’s score bumped up?

Yeh Wilshere was phenominal, work rate was unbelievable and everytime he got the ball he was turning looking to push forward at every opportunity. And yeh he did assist Bentners goal with a brilliant long ball, Cesc-like, but definately Wilshere.

How can Clichy be our best defender with a 7 while Kosher gets and 8? Am I missing something?

What a joke. This guy probably didn’t watch the match. The shitty Denilson just .5 below Wilshere and the same as Van Persie? Next time, buy a ticket!!

Rassy14 it was an easy mistake to make haha. I thought it was cesc too until I watched the replays, who knew Wilshire had such great vision and could pick out a long ball as good as cesc?

Wilshire was fantastic, that midfield was his, he covered all Denilsons errors fought and produced that sublime pass to bendtner, he’s a legend already.

My point is that we won the game, but wilshere should be rated higher than that.

Wilshere close to man of the match with Clichy. Didn’t Fabregas was amazing… Wilshere set him up in the first half with a stunning pass…how he gets a 6.5 god only knows…Bendtner and Arsh did ok, Van P was average… Denilson is not really good enough, he is only marginally better than Eastmond who is not that good at all

    😐
    Dude come on.
I live in India, and I still know it was Wilshere who got the terrific assist. Fabregas would have been proud.

I don’t understand it. From my point of view, Arshavin played yet another hopeless game, as he has been doing almost all season. But he still manages to bag another two assists?

Just look at Wilshere’s game in comparison, different league entirely. But he lacks the edge and confidence in front of goal. But in time he will develop into our captain (given that Fabregas makes his move to Barcelona).

Allthough Bendtner scored a goal, he’s still awful.

My transfer-market advice to Wenger would be to cash in on Denilson, Arshavin and Bendtner. Possibly bring in Marek Hamsik, Eden Hazard and Per Mertesacker. Also I would bring Maarten Stekelenburg to Arsenal, but as our Pole is doing his job the way he has been doing, I don’t see much reason for it. And one last thing: Tell Almunia to fuck off.

To clarify, DKD did not copy any work from another blog. He owns and runs armourysquare.wordpress.com and has other writers writing for him, then all their posts are also published on Football-Talk under the generic name ‘DKD’.

Thanks and keep up the good work DKD
